Kait Monroe

Bio

Kait Monroe was born in Wilmington Delaware in 1983 and was raised on a tree farm in Sussex County Delaware with her 5 sisters. Monroe is a painter of oil portraits and figures. She is influenced by her medical background in nursing and her love of the ocean that she grew up swimming in and the woods that she spent hours daydreaming in. For inspiration, Monroe looks to idealistic painters like Abbott Thayer and Impressionist artists like John Singer Sargent. Her favorite contemporary artists are Hollis Dunlap, Jenny Saville, and Natalia Fabia.

Monroe resides with her husband and two daughters on their farmette in the coastal town of Lewes, Delaware where she and her husband grow native plants, keep laying hens as pets, and have an unruly garden.
